Debbie is the owner of PhysioWorks NI. She is a Chartered Physiotherapist, Pilates Instructor and AIM Practitioner. She has always been passionate about sport, fitness, health and wellbeing.

Over the last 30 years Debbie has had great success treating clients by combining hands on treatment with tailored rehabilitation programmes.

When I assess a client I aim to find out the cause of the injury and treatment is then aimed at the cause not the symptoms. A bespoke treatment programme can then be devised for that client with specific exercises to help get them back to normal pain free activity

David Bell

MCSP


Chartered Physiotherapist.

Specialising in: Myofascial release, Acupuncture, Joint mobilisation, Rehabilitation programs, Sporting injuries, Running injuries and Injury prevention screening to name a few.

David began his Physiotherapy career working in England before joining PhysioWorksNI in April 2013. David was is an Ex Professional Footballer, starting his career in England and then playing with Irish League clubs such as Crusaders, Carrick Rangers and St Patricks Athletic.

I work with a wide range of clients, of all ages and activity levels daily. My aim is simple, to quickly diagnose the root cause of a condition, reduce the symptoms, formulate a bespoke rehabilitation program for each individual and improve their quality of life or return to activity.

Alan Thomson

Chartered Physiotherapist.

Areas of expertise: Rugby injuries, Sports injuries, Lower limb injuries especially knee rehabilitation, Neck & Back pain, Shoulder pain, Acupuncture, Massage, Myofascial release, Kinesiology / Sports Taping, Injection Therapy, Medicines Management.

Alan is an Advanced Practitioner Band 7 Physiotherapist with 13 years' experience working both in the NHS and here in PhysioWorks NI. He has extensive experience working with a variety of sports teams providing pitch side support as well as tailored rehabilitation programme post injury.

Alan has a keen interest in sport and works as lead Physiotherapist for Methodist College Rugby

Emily Waters


Polestar Pilates Studio and Matwork Instructor.

Polestar Pilates Instructor for Northern Ireland. Specialising in: Sports injury, sport specific performance, fitness, rehabilitation, back pain, ante and post natal.

Emily is a Pilates Instructor with well over 14 years of experience in wellness. Emily began her career in the UK in 2003 qualifying as a Pilates Matwork instructor firstly teaching all levels of Pilates Matwork classes before achieving the international accreditation she holds today with the Pilates world. Holding qualifications and extensive experience in both the United Kingdom and Sydney, Australia where Emily continued her education to become a Studio Instructor using reformer, trapeze table and all Pilates machines and equipment. Emily owned and ran her own studio in Sydney and trained other instructors.

Emily more recently lived in the British Virgin Islands where she proudly introduced Pilates as a form of fitness and rehabilitation. Emily has always worked closely alongside physiotherapists and other health practitioners to combine her knowledgeable approach to injuries and chronic pain as well as general fitness and elite performance for professional sports athletes. Emily has now settled in Northern Ireland and continues to develop her passion for Pilates and her love of the water as she is a keen paddle boarder and surfer.

Jayne Mcilveen


Jayne has just returned to Northern Ireland after working in Dubai and Saudi Arabia as a Stott Advanced Pilates Instructor.

Specialising in: Pre and post Natal, Personal Trainer and Sports Massage Therapist.

Jayne's backround is as a professional dancer before moving into health and wellbeing practices. She has a degree in Dance and Movement studies as well as BTh Honors degree in Theology and Literature.

Jayne is passionate about optimising each individual's body potential, helping her clients to recover from injury and life stress, to help the client understand their body and create the best version of themselves.

Jayne loves all things acrobatic. In her spare time she loves to practice inversions and learn new skills like aerial hoop.

Susan Lambe


Susan is a qualified Stott Pilates matwork instructor, teaching at both Essential and Intermediate level. She also brings over 15 years' experience of practising Pilates.


Susan is passionate about the benefits of Pilates, supporting & building a strong body, in addition to promoting movement awareness in everyday activities. Pilates is a valuable part of an athlete's training at all levels, playing a key role in core strength, mobility, improved posture and injury prevention.

A former international orienteer, Susan enjoys life in the great outdoors and can often be found exploring the picturesque Mourne Mountains. Susan runs regularly and wears her parkrun 100 shirt with pride. With several half marathons under her belt, she would love to add that elusive first marathon to the list.

Carolyn Mcilhagga

Practice Manager


Carolyn joined the PhysioworksNI team in June 2012.

Carolyn is involved in all Administration aspects of the business while ensuring the smooth running of the practice. She works on managing the website and is also the Primary Pilates Coordinator for Fit Pilates.

Carolyn's work was recognised by the Castlereagh Business Awards, where she was a 2014 finalist for Employee of the Year.

Sharon Howes

Reception


Sharon joined the PhysioworksNI team in June 2012.

She provides a friendly welcome in reception, deal with phone calls, books appointments and takes payments. She also look after our social media site and fulfils many other tasks to maintain the smooth running of the practice. Sharon is also known for her extensive knowledge and support of Ulster Rugby!

CHIROPODY / PODIATRY

Dr Elaine Hoey - Podiatry

PHD, BSC (HONS), MCHS


Elaine qualified with a BSc in Podiatry in 2007 from Queen Margaret University in Edinburgh, having previously gained a PhD in scientific research.

She then worked at a leading sports injury clinic in Scotland where clients included the Scottish and Edinburgh Rugby teams, Premiership footballers and Commonwealth Games athletes.

She also worked with the Scottish Institute for Sport - Awards include the Edinburgh & Lothians Branch Society of Chiropodists and Podiatrists Prize for Biomechanics & Gait Anaysis. Elaine specialises in Gait Analysis and the Skeletal Balance System; bringing to NI for the first time a revolutionary orthotic (prescription insole) that flexes and moves dynamically with your feet allowing a more natural gait.

She also has extensive experience of working with a range of lower limb musculoskeletal conditions. Elaine is registered with the major Insurance Companies.

Louise McConville - Chiropody

BSC (Hons), HCPC, SCPOD


Louise qualified with a BSc (Hons) in Podiatry in 2016 from Ulster University.

Louise has worked in several private practices throughout Northern Ireland since her graduation.

As well as performing routine chiropody, Louise specialises in Foot Mobilisation Therapy which allows her to diagnose and treat a range of lower limb musculoskeletal conditions.

A Tyrone Native, Louise moved to Belfast in September 2017. In her spare time she plays for Malone ladies RFC and has recently begun training in Brazilian Jujitsu..
